IPM Measures

Stem borer, gall midge, thrips, root knot nematode, root nematode and white tip nematode, blast, and tungro

For insect pests and nematodes, apply carbofuran 3G @ 33 kg ha-1 or phorate 10 G @ 12.5 kg ha-1 or fipronil 0.3G @ 33 kg ha-1 of nursery, 5 to 7 days before pulling the seedlings for transplanting.

In stem borer endemic areas, install pheromone traps with 5 mg lure @ 8 traps ha-1 for pest monitoring.

For blast, seed dress with tricyclazole 75 WP @2 g kg-1 seed or carbendazim 50 WP @ 2.0 g kg-1 seed and spray tricyclazole 75 WP @ 0.06% or isoprothiolane 40 EC @ 0.1%

(For seed treatment, measured quantity of fungicide is thoroughly mixed with water. Seeds are then soaked in the fungicide solution for 12 hours. The soaked seeds are then put in a cloth bag and incubated for 2 to 3 days for proper germination. The fungicide treated sprouted seeds are then broadcast in the nursery bed).
